Getting to Know Mr. Hernandez
Hello Guin Foss Students and Parents,
Thank you for making Guin Foss Elementary your school of choice, and for entrusting us to help your child grow academically and personally. The elementary years are such special years. I want to say thank you for letting us share in these wonderful years and for letting us be a part of the life long memories your child will make here at Guin Foss. While I know school options exist, I also know that when your child’s time here at Guin Foss has come to an end, you are going to be thankful for the choice you made.
One of our goals is that your child will feel safe, welcomed, and connected while at Guin Foss. Guin Foss is the school where All Dolphins Belong. Your child belongs here. Here at Guin Foss where our dedicated staff members give their best in assuring that your child receives a great education. Our students’ results speak for themselves as does our wonderful reputation in the community and across our District. We could not have attained such a standing without all of our amazing Guin Foss parents and volunteers. I want you to know that I remain committed to, and looking forward to, working alongside each one of you in assuring Guin Foss Elementary remains a great school for students, parents, and this community.
For those of you whom I have not had the pleasure of meeting, I would like to now share a little bit about myself. My teaching experience has been in first, second, fifth and sixth grade. I have also taught a first and second grade combination class, and a newcomers class (a class for students who are new to the country with no English language skills). I am also GATE certified and served several years as a Teacher On Special Assignment. My leadership experience as a principal has been in both a TK-6th grade school setting, and now a Pre-School to 5th grade school setting. These settings have afforded me the opportunity to serve general education students as well as mild-moderate to moderate-severe special education students. I also served as Assistant Principal at Utt Middle School where, among many other areas of experience, the critical and foundational work we are so passionately engaged in here at the elementary level was reinforced.
On a personal note, my wife and I have two daughters who are in their final year at CSUF. My son is a senior on the varsity football team. Win or lose, I am looking forward to watching his games and being one of those loud and proud parents on the sideline! Lastly, for those of you new to Guin Foss, please know that I look forward to meeting and getting to know you during this coming school year. If you see me out on the blacktop in the mornings, or at dismissal, please don’t hesitate to stop by and introduce yourself.
Sincerely,
Ray Hernandez
